Sidewalk Chalk

Isabelle is 4.  She is one of the most extremely extraverted persons I have ever known.  People are her life-fuel.  She gets so lonely and bored when all the kids in the neighborhood are at school and Mommy has work to do.

Today it was sunny and almost warm, so she went out on the driveway to draw.  I went to check on her, and she was throwing her brand new chalk up in the air and watching it crack on the sidewalk.  “What are you doing?” I asked her.

“I’m throwing my chalk up to God so at least He will color with me.”

I asked her what would happen if He actually caught it.  “Play with Him”, she said, as if I had asked the dumbest question ever.

I wonder what He would have drawn?

Other parents take notice! Blog read: “throwing her brand new chalk up in the air and watching it crack on the sidewalk” and Michelle asked a “What?” question. If she had said, No, Stop that, Don’t you know how expensive chalk is… she never would have learned so much about her daughter’s faith. I think God might have drawn Mommy a smiley face for keeping the conversation open!

That is one of the sweetest things I have heard in awhile. Well, besides Rob’s story this (salt) weekend. She is too precious. Kudos to you for asking and not just getting upset with her. I’ve heard patience is a lack of understanding and you definitely showed patience by asking and waiting for her answer. GREAT JOB!!!!
