A Week Of Firsts

First Day 2010 005 First Day 2010 006 First Day 2010 008

School started for our girls this week, which means waking up at 6:30am, and getting them on the bus by 7:15am.  The girls had great attitudes, got themselves up and dressed, hair brushed, etc. The two big girls don’t want me to help them with their hair or clothes anymore, which is perfectly fine by me.  It takes all my energy just to slow down Belle, the Energizer bunny long enough to throw clothes on her and brush her hair.

Belle is a huge fan of all day Kindergarten, but not so much the food at lunch.  Yesterday, the first words out of her mouth when she came off the bus were, “The corndogs were awful, I need a snack.”  Today it was, “The chicken burritos tasted like horse poop.” I think we will be packing lunches next week.  I wanted her to have practice getting her lunch tray while there was extra help from the 1st grade Mommies, but I think she’s got the drill down.

Whitney loves 5th grade.  She is the big boss of the school, now that her big sis has moved on to Middle school.  Whit has been so kind to Belle in sitting with her on the bus, introducing her to all her big friends, and making sure she gets where she needs to be when they get to school.  I am so proud of Whit I can’t stand it.

Miss Maddie has aged10 years in the past few days after starting Middle school.  She says I am no longer her Mom, and she is fine on her own.  Of course I offered to rent out her room and she promptly took it back.

It’s been quite a week around here.  Lots of firsts. The quiet at home has been nice.  I’ve gotten lots of organizing done, and plan to spend next week working on our India book. I can’t wait!

You must be serving up some good food if school burritos taste like horse poop to her (such a descriptive term she chose to use, lol) I use to love school burritos and corndogs, but then again my mom was not a culinary master of any sort.
