We had one of the most fun parties we’ve ever hosted this week. Maddie turned 12, and we wanted to do something a bit out of the ordinary, so we had a Murder Mystery Party for her. Whitney was the poor, unfortunate murdered Beverly Hills Cheerleader. The game pretty much played out like a game of Clue—nothing gory or scary really, except the make-up job our friend and neighbor Jane did for Whitney. I have to say it completely freaked me out, and Whitney loved playing her part by laying on the floor and acting dead for the whole party.
This party was perfect for middle school aged girls. They all got email invitations describing who their character was and how they should come dressed to the party. It was completely hilarious. Each girl got completely into it and acted out their part perfectly. There was lots of screaming involved and Rob kept running through the house with a mask and various pieces of lawn equipment to incite further screaming. I don’t think my ears have recovered yet. Never a dull moment around here!
