Anne Rice on Jesus

Anne Rice has written books on vampires for years.  Personally, I don’t enjoy vampires, and I am not a fan of blood or gore, so I haven’t read any of them.  I did however pick up these two books she has recently written on the life of Jesus.  Anne Rice gave her life to Jesus a few years ago.  Since then, she has decided to veer away from the vampire genre and focus on Jesus for a while.

These books marked me.  I read them and know Jesus better because I did.  They are not the Bible, and I’m sure the author would not claim they are the Bible, or even her interpretation of the Bible.  These books look into the possibilities of Jesus’ life.  They showed me what it was like for Jesus to sweat, to sleep, to eat, to work…

The scene in “The Road to Cana” when Jesus is being tempted by the Devil in the desert is the most powerful portrayal of that story I have ever read about or heard in any sermon anywhere.

I loved these books.  I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to know Jesus more.
