Help For Southern India

I am glad it's blog action day.  I am glad I am married to a guy who lives his life to eradicate poverty.  I am glad I can be a part of that in some small way.

Granger Community Church is actively involved in several ways.  For blog action day, I am focusing on the work we are doing in Southern India to

  • Bring health and wellness instead of poverty and disease
  • Expose corruption and end bonded slavery
  • Bring clean drinking water to remote villages by digging wells
  • Help impoverished men and women start a small business
  • Put a stop to temple prostitution
  • Bring AIDS education and awareness
  • Educate Pastors and Church Planters

India Dec. 2006 125

These are just some of the things our church is doing to help.  We have several teams traveling to Southern India this year.  If you would like to donate money to a team member, click on this link and follow the instructions.  If you don't know any of the team members, close your eyes, pray, and pick one!  All of the team members are sacrificing vacation time, time w/family, etc. to do God's work in Southern India.

If you don't give here, give somewhere.  Times are hard in the USA, but no where near as difficult as those living in the third world.

What a great cause…the poverty in other parts of the world is really incredible.

I’m so thankful for this work that you and your husband do, Michelle! I have a friend from India–he teaches at seminaries there and his wife works with an orphanage. Worked, actually. Now they’re in Philippines.

I’d not heard of blog action day until now – what a great idea. I wish I’d known about it before!

Wondering…does our church provide loans for starting small businesses? Or just give the money?
It’s a big debate I’ve had on twitter. Whether it’s ok to loan money, when you don’t believe in debt.

  5. Michelle says:

We give to them initially, then help them learn working skills. After they generate income they are able to get a loan to start a larger business.
