Purposefully Preparing

Rob and I are taking the girls through Advent this year in a purposeful way.  I’ve personally never done it, so this has been a very meaningful experience.  We are using the ideas from The Advent Conspiracy.  The four weeks of focus are:

  • Worship Fully
  • Spend less
  • Give More
  • Love All

We started a little late, so we are in between the Worship Fully and the Spend Less weeks. From their site:

Worship Fully.  It starts with Jesus. It ends with Jesus. This is the holistic approach God had in mind for Christmas. It’s a season where we are called to put down our burdens and lift a song up to our God. It’s a season where love wins, peace reigns, and a king is celebrated with each breath. It’s the party of the year. Entering the story of advent means entering this season with an overwhelming passion to worship Jesus to the fullest.

I know the Worship Fully thing is catching on because yesterday I heard Isabelle singing from the bathroom,

“Jesus, you came to this world, and you were a baby and you are good now (she does not like babies) and I love you always.”

Belle has an uncanny songwriting ability, doesn’t she?  But for her, it’s worship.

We are all learning to worship and love Jesus in a more meaningful way this Christmas season.

How is your family purposefully preparing for Christmas in these weeks leading up to the big day?
