He Watches You

He Watches You

The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Words Against Worry

We dropped Maddie off at Camp Adventure yesterday morning, knowing it is absolutely the best way for her to spend this week.  Rob and I have directed and counseled at this camp for the past 18 years, and we know it is a very special place.  Knowing all of this, it made it a little easier dropping her off and leaving her there for the week.  I’m not a freak-out-worry-wart kind of Mom, but I worry about the normal stuff like:

Will she remember to drink water all day long?  Will she be sad at night?  Will she get along well with the girls in her group?

You get the idea.  My mind kept stirring with those thoughts all day yesterday.

I read this passage from the Bible last night:

Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

I have always thought about myself when I read that passage.  Last night as I read it, I heard God’s voice saying to me:

I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does Maddie’s help come from?

2 Maddie’s help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let her foot slip—
he who watches over Maddie will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over Maddie
the LORD is her shade at her right hand;

6 the sun will not harm her by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep Maddie from all harm—
he will watch over her life;

8 the LORD will watch over Maddie’s coming and going
both now and forevermore.

I went to bed last night knowing that even though I was sleeping, Maddie’s Heavenly Father was watching over her, His eyes glued on her, giving her peace.  I went to sleep knowing He was watching me too…

I encourage you to type out this prayer, and add the name of someone you worry about.  I guarantee God will flood your soul with His peace.
