Wegner Family Update #8,961

I thought I’d take a second and fill everyone in on what’s been going on behind the scenes at the Wegner house.  It’s been a pretty crazy few months, as Isabelle has been having some really puzzling health issues.  With all the strain of unknowing mixed with real pain and real issues, Belle has been dealing with some pretty serious anxiety issues.  I don’t blame her one bit.  When I don’t know what’s going on around me, I get pretty stressed too.  We decided to take her to a specialist for her issues at a children’s hospital in our area, so hopefully we will be able to get her some help soon.

Anxiety of the unknown mixed with sadness for Belle has driven me into the arms of Jesus in a way that I could only know because of this circumstance.  I am grateful for the love that Jesus so freely offers when we are nothing and can give nothing back to Him except our trust.  He is so good.

Maddie and Whitney have been doing so great.  They have settled into their school routines very nicely and are really enjoying school this year (although they weren’t too sure about that after two long weeks of sleeping in). They are getting wonderful grades, have fantastic teachers, and are leading those around them in a way that makes us very proud parents.

Christmas Break 2009 010   One of our biggest accomplishments has been training Ellie, our slobbering, hacking, spitting golden retriever with a cleft pallet to do her slobbering, hacking, spitting and drooling all in the laundry room.  I stepped in a puddle of her drool one too many times and finally had enough.

It was like my drooley sock brought this epiphany — “Ellie is a golden retriever.  She is very smart.  No more drool in my living room!”  After about two days of praising her for drinking her water and staying in the laundry room until she was done hacking, she got it.  No more drooley socks for me!

Our house is like any other house. Moments of laughter, joy, fighting, peace, but mostly lots of love.  I am so  blessed to be married to an amazing husband and have three amazing girls.

Michelle, you’re girls are so darn cute! I love that you write about “real” stuff and don’t pretend everything is perfect. I’ll add Belle to my prayers..the anxiety can be worse than the physical stuff, so I’ll pray for her on that too. Hang in there..you are an amazing mom 🙂
